I grew up on the beautiful NSW north coast and remain here still today. Being in nature just makes sense to me. When I’m immersed in nature it feels good for the soul, it feels right. Being behind the camera in nature is another level, its like having a superpower, where all the detail and beauty is naturally illuminated. You notice things that others walk past. It is way more about the experience than the product.

As a bird photographer, I pay particular attention to the light and direction of the sun, the eye of the bird, colour, wing and feather detail. In some of my bird portraits, if you look carefully you can even see my reflection in the birds eye. I want people who aren’t even interested in birds to be captivated and admire the pictures that I capture. Birds are incredibly complex and simply beautiful all in one. They are such fascinating and intelligent creatures with a unique capacity to make us happier. Just ask any birder.
